At the end of this year's Fulda Challenge in Canada's Yukon Territory, Hans was in action at the wheel of an ATV car - and he was very successful. After the official end of the 2005 Fulda Challenge, which was won by Team Italy, celebrity participants and coaches of the Arctic decathlon met to carry out their own competition in an ATV race. ATVs are four-wheel drive off-road work and fun cars regularly used in the Yukon Territory. "I love to drive these machines. They are extremely quick and really fun to drive," Hans said. The 54-year-old had every reason to cheer while looking at the final result, as he managed to win the race ahead of other competitors including Jutta Kleinschmidt, Joey Kelly, Klaus Ludwig and Isolde Holderied. However, conditions during the run were a no-go for people who suffer from the cold, as temperatures at the Dawson-based ice track were as low as -44°C. Consequently, all the participants suffered serious frostbite. Nevertheless Hans enjoyed taking part in the well-organised event. " Fulda once again managed to set up a fantastic event. It's the icing on the cake that I could win a race at the end," he commented. |
